Each May, it’s so easy to get lost in the long weekend. With lots of travelin’, big sales, cookouts, and pool parties to distract us, many people often forget to take the time to really give their respect on Memorial Day. While all the festivities may say otherwise, it’s important to remember that Memorial Day is a somber holiday, created to celebrate the lives and honor the sacrifices made by those veterans that never made it home.
I’ve been fortunate to meet thousands of members of our country’s brave military in my lifetime. For years I’ve visited bases, laughing with them, crying with them, and lots of hugging, and I’m always sure to thank each and every one of them for their bravery, respect for our country, and unparalleled sacrifice to put the good of our country above all else. I couldn’t be more proud to count these brave men and women as friends. So today, while we’re enjoyin’ the freedoms they fought for us to have, let’s all take a moment of silence to show our gratitude for our fallen heroes.
I’d love to hear about those men and women you’re honoring today. Share a story or give your thanks in the comment section below.
